Study Visit to Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Wien Austria, February 2008

Date: 2008-07-01

The Turkish team's  study visit to   Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium was very fruitful and a teaching experience for the teachers from Karatay Lisesi.

We had  meetings with the staff of environmental team  and had a chance to see how the EMAS works in the school  and saw the best results achieved by the school members and staff. We had  valuable resources referred to earlier  Works on recycling which can lead and give us ideas how we can implement recycling,  separating waste in categories in Karatay Lisesi.

We found that as a school, having no EMAS certificate  in this school, this EMAS programme is very powerful creating a sustained interest in environmental issues . The environment staff of from Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium showed us how environment approach to school emphasises opportunity not only to enrich curriculum but also to draw students  interest.

During the Eco Club meeting with the students we saw that the students  from Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium respond the EMAS programme very activelyTaking part, simulates their imagination and they approach the issues with energy. This programme simulates new ideas taking  responsibility for the students and school assemblies.
